IVF treatment is considered when couple fail to conceive after trying for pregnancy naturally and through various simple treatment methods like ovulation induction with timed intercourse for more then an year .Couple can be directly reffered if female partner has B/L tubal blockage, severe endometriosis ,adenomyosis, DOR, with advanced AGE >36, MALE PARTNER-severe compromised semen parameters of decreased sperm count , morphology and motility or azoospermia.

IVF is relatively safe with minimal complications as the treatment is individualized based for every patient based on her BMI, hormonal profile, no.of oocytes/follicles, semen parameters and response of patient to treatment.

IVF treatment usually starts on day2 of menstrual cycle with scanning for the no. of follicles in the ovary , medications and injections for 8-10 days ,the mediactions are safe and patient does not require any off from work , bed rest and can continue to work at office or home during the treatment.

IVF is growing the oocyte with medicines, oocyte retrieval a day care procedure after maturation under short GA , semen collection and fertilizing oocyte and sperm in the laboratory to form the embryo which is kept in the uterus in the same ivf cycle on D3 which is fresh embryo transfer or the embryos can be frozen can be transferred to uterus in other cycle on which is frozen embryo transfer on D3 or D5.

IVF success rate is 30-40% and it depends on couple positive state of mind and ability to understand the chance of failure at times and need for 2-3 cycles for the success of IVF.
